A New "Home"
Hello, everyone. I hope you have all been doing well. There has been some talk amongst some of us to try to find another game we may call "home", one which would garner sufficient interest and presence from us to be a lasting place for some time, as we had in CO with the House. This is not necessarily to do the "House in X Game" but merely to take advantage of the camaraderie we have developed here. Some of us have known each other, via our online gaming, for years, and it seems an effort ought to be made to keep together a quality core of us.
There has been discussion regarding most of the major MMORPG's. I think that, within reason, we are more interested in getting a sufficient number of us to really get into a common game as opposed to what that game may prove to be.
I, personally, have not been in as much an RP mood of late, but I would like to get something going again. I would also want a game that we can enjoy playing together as well as roleplaying. Right now, we have some presence (to one degree or another) in CO, Rift, TSW, and DCUO and smaller presence or leanings toward TOR, AoC, GW2, and WAR. There is also some attention on the new Final Fantasy game and whether or not that may prove worthwhile to try.
If you are interested, please feel free to contribute to the discussion in this thread or contact me privately, if you feel more comfortable doing so.
I look forward to hearing from you.

I could go with RIFT, AoC, WAR, SWTOR or something new (for me) like FF14 or GW2. I have unresolved technical issues with DCUO and to a lesser extent TSW.

Re: A New "Home"
Personally, I'm most invested in Rift right now.
Games I have/had characters in are CO (weary), AoC (interested), TSW (casual at best), GW2 (interested) & SWTOR (bad FTP vibe ).
I also dabble in Planetside 2 & Mechwarrior Online
I'm also trying to gather some old WoW guildies in some form or another, so this may influence this decision as well (even if splitting time between groups isn't impossible)

I think GW2 , or AOC would be good for fantasy RP, Rift's ok but it seems to preset on its world. Personally, AOC fits the darkest and most adult you will get i'm most MMOS. Modern day TSW is dark but very limited. Now ToR , OMG yes their FTP sucks!!! It's just meant to be a teaser to try and make you subb. and stil after you subb the RP supports like a joke. (( Former SWG player here we were spoiled for RP support. and tools )) Aion , great FTP model but to pretty. until the re-population comes out , RP games with support for RP will be limited, and God knows when CCP will have their Vamp game ready to roll.
DCUO is the better superhero game for feeling like a super hero but its characters fell plastic and women are so limited in looks.
CO is much better for RP but lacks in Gameplay.

Re: A New "Home"
I have been spending most of time in TSW of late. I really love the setting, just the bugs and the difficulty/complexity of the game sometimes frustrates me. We're still having some difficulty, it seems, getting a 'regular' place. I am open to trying a group of us in AoC (for instance), but I would like to know a decent enough number of us are going to make a real go at it. Otherwise, I am likely going to keep pushing TSW until it seems not enough of us are going to be there on any regular basis. That seems the game, for now, that has the most of us really trying to play it.
As always, I am open to ideas and discussion.

Re: A New "Home"
I would go for AoC (they seem to have a good f2p model, at least for a former subscriber), TSW is not really my cup of tea. I like SWTOR, if people want to go there, but the f2p model is pretty bad so I'd re-subscribe. Defiance isn't bad, but there is no housing or privacy and the chat system makes communicating by sending clay tablets inscribed in Linear B seem more practical.
I'd be open to try other games, too.

Re: A New "Home"
TSW Is a fun game and the Server Tech allows for global oppose to the usual EU/US Split. I sometimes play as Slicksix there but it's rarely these days I do aim to enjoy the upcoming Issue 8 and the 'Filth in Agartha' Event, I have a somewhat established character there. Shes a conspiracy nut- which is ironically the truth in TSW and has started to scratch the surface of The Secret World. It's an interesting setting to Roleplay with and even though I don't play all too much I'd recommend it to everyone especially when it's up on Steam Sale at around £12.50. The gameplay *is* difficult though, this MMOG does not hold your hand- It's very adult in that respect and the RP community is very, very active here; http://www.tsw-rp.com/
As Ani knows I've been playing Second Life quite a bit, I hammered it for 6 weeks and spent more money than I care to admit. Takes about a week to grab you, the camera controls are extremely frustrating to begin with (I actually tried SL in 2011 and failed to get into it because of the camera) but given the chance it's a very compelling 'game' - I'd remark more as an internet browser it's not really a game. Once you set up the options right and run on the correct 'Viewer' (I'd recommend Firestorm) it can be a fun experience where pretty much everything is catered for. And I mean everything, I have toys ranging from dental gags to arm cuffs, corset dresses to pony play gear, check the Marketplace to see for yourself (you will have to create an account to see adult stuff).
I Roleplay in several venues, now and then I RP in Mars and InSilico, these are 'Sims' (Like servers) that cater toward Cyberpunk Roleplay, sex isn't particularly encouraged, but not discouraged either, sadly it feels like I missed the Party of SL by a year or two and it's popularity is in decline, but still hang out in the right places and it feels more alive than most MMO's.
I also hang out at 'The Chamber'- which is basically exactly what I envision the House of Thorns being, it's based off Stanley Kubriks, Eyes Wide Shut and is *extremely popular* there is an entry cost to join the group but you tend to find better quality Doms/Dommes and subs in this 'sex sim', it's not RP per say, but they have an awesome Dungeon and the atmosphere is usually nice. There is a handful of other places to mention, I also RP in a place called 'Dead End'- It deals with topics I find a little uncomfortable - namely rape - but it's Roleplay and one is never taken against consent. If you think of Sin City mixed with a Max Payne style noir and depressive backdrop you have the right idea, the cops are useless, life is cheap and people are trying to claw their way out of the bottom of society's barrel, my own character was lured into pornography but is realising it's a guise for a criminal drugs front. DE is a very cool Roleplaying Sim where you come up with a backstory and enact it, like any 'normal' Roleplay, I was shocked by the RP quality and had to up my ante to keep up.
I'd say, from experience of 2 months in SL It would cost about $25 to get your 'Avatar' (character) looking the way you want with one or two outfits, that's everything from animations/skin/shape/hair to a cock/pussy. It can be extremely complicated to begin with, but once you figure it out it's quite simple, don't be fooled by the stereotype of SL. SL is dependant on it's creators to look good without looking like something from NWN a decade ago. It's completely free to jump in, so I'd recommend it, but again, I think it's best to make SL a sort of 'side activity' whilst having a main MMO you congregate on, for me that is TSW and a few random video games, recently though I've been glued to SL.

Re: A New "Home"
I myself, have been in DCUO (EU) with Xzarth and Aetherwright (feel free to add me there guys). And just on this very Halloween bought TSW in recent Steam sale. So I thought to check if anyone here is playing TSW still, I wouldnt mind some leveling up company or roleplay company and what not (Stonedevil is the name).
EDIT:
Oh, yeah. Path of Exile released finally officially. Been there for a good while too myself. I enjoy it greatly.

Hello,
Havent been here in quite a while, stopped by to say hi.
I've been playing TSW when I can but havent been RPing, would be nice to get back in it.
Mostly waiting for Wildstar to come out, It looks like a fun game with room for RP too.

There are a few people playing TSW. A good rule of thumb is to join HOTOOC channel and see if anyone is about.

Hi, Sarah
We're still suffering the same issues of finding a place that is suitable and convenient for all. I am not sure if anyone is playing Rift.
Nice to hear from you, and I hope you are doing well.
The chatbox still stays reasonably active.

RISE!
One day, there will be an awesome MMO for us to hang out in. One day... still... looking.
Played Final Fantasy 14 for a while. It's pretty solid game, not so sure about RP environ though- limited character costuming options being fantasy world.
City of Titans and some other MMOs are still lingering in dev.
Mostly I've been playing solo stuff and chat RPing when I'm not busy writing, and I am busy writing almost all the time. Yay!
Writing is not money yet, but will be very, very soon.
Miss you people!

Re: A New "Home"
Tanie here!
I've been gone for a while (and sporadic at best on the chatbox)
I've mainly been playing WoW and RPing there, but old days of CoX were coming back down on me.
Of course with CoX having been gone for years now I turned my eyes back to another game I had played and made many wonderful friends with. Champions online
The old HoTOOC channel is still there with people in it (although the activity in it seems to be almost nil. That said I actually talked to someone today on it).
That said I'm probably gonna try to spend more time on CO, making and remaking characters till I find one that I decide is a perfect fit for what I want.

I must say I am utterly surprised this is all still here, and much more so that there has been a post within only a few months. Yes, the old HOTOOC channel is still there, but as Morgan stated, it is all but lifeless. Where, oh where, has the House of Thorns gone?

Things are slowly but surely picking back up with the House in CO. We're meeting a lot of nice new folks, seeing the reappearance of old faces, and it seems a bit of an expansion is underway. Come and join us.
