Application : Satyxes
By filling in this application you declare your Out Of Character and In Character age is above 18+. Anyone found to be violating this primary rule will be removed from the guild without question. I also accept the Super Group contains themes of an adult nature and will abide by SSC Rulings listed below;
Your Characters Name:
Satyxes@geert
Your Characters Gender:
None, passes amidst the masses as an apparent Asian-blooded woman.
Your Characters Age:
Physically and mentally, well in the 'young adult' margins - even Saty it was only 'made manifest' two-three years ago.
Your (As in Player's) Date of Birth:
Ninth of may, 1979 - Belgium (so, French, Dutch, English - all good).
Your Characters Species:
'Fallen' Demon
Your Personal Roleplay Experience:
Been doing all sorts of RP (pen and paper & Larp) for about 15 years and only recently (1-2 years) discovered MMO's through WoW (yes, the crack cocaine of computer games - if Yahtzee is to be believed).
My RP tastes vary from sterling and shiney paladins to depraved Sabbat Vampires, all fitted to their environment to try and make an entertaining and intresting story for all involved.
----
Where did you hear about House of Thorns?:
Saw a few members RP'ing in CO, had a crazy 'google them' moment and ... voila. The site. What I read there made me stay and poke Lillith with a few questions.
What appeals to you the most about the Guild?:
In all honesty, the chance to try and set up something that failed so miserably for me in WoW RP communities : The chance at some mature, darker-tinted RP without having that devolve to a raging band of 'fuck me' toons.
For those that know the place, I dread the rampant 'goldshire-syndrome' that seemed to strike people in that game and am hoping to be able to develop the more mental/psychologocal aspects of such a darker playstyle, instead of having to bat away the crazies, so to speak.
To clarify :
No, I do not oppose or recoil from eRP in any way, as long as it's not 'hello, is this enough social talk to have sex now ?' Basically, whatever feels right, feels right - but it needs to be a little fleshed out at the very least.
In what way do you see yourself contribute to the Group?
In an OOC way, I believe we're all here to have fun and relax with a nice game. So... in that respect, i'll do my utmost to try and provide that for people - be it the occasional quest-help, a little crafting, some mats handed out, etc... Just common sense and team-spirit, really
IC'ly... that's a bit tricky. Given that Saty gets 'in', your house will have a stanch supporter and -if well handled - a rather unquestioning 'soldier' at it's command. The how's and why's are things I'd like to see evolve IC'ly - or can be shared with a select few, in order to maintain the most 'discovery fun' for the majority of players that interact with 'it'.
What's your characters traits; Their flaws, their strengths?
The most common traits in satyxes - visible to the casual observer - is that the being is always looking, always trying to read your face as if it's not quite sure what that facial expression means. The obvious carefull and quiet curiosity about 'these humans' will very likely get it caught up in stuff 'because it wanted to see what that human meant' - going from late-night booze-runs to exploring that weird dark dungeony place below the dancefloor.
It's obvious flaw is the detatchement to certain aspects of the human condition, and it's quest to ubderstand and revel in it. it's attempts to live and enjoy life as the humans do are probably the single most common cause for trouble it lands in.
It's single greatest strength is the demonic resolve and single-minded persuit of a goal - with all the energy and ferocity of it's kind - making it a very usefull 'bloodhound' and fierce warrior.
What position do you see your Character in the House of Thorns?
I'd say that it would make an excellent 'Sabbat templar' for the house. Unquestioningly loyal as long as the house does not betray their own ideals and as long as the creature's own advancement towards understanding and reveling in the human condition isn't actively halted by them.
That's not to say that it would leave as soon as it felt it had nothing left to learn, rather that it would stay in the place it had called 'home' to contiinue it's searches with the help/guidance of the house.
More nuances in what and how are really only possible for me to determine once the play is set in motion. I know little enough about the concrete day-to-day runnings and dealings to actually point at a spot in the mesh of people and go 'there, that's my ideal place !'
Go with the flow, i'd say.
----
What times do you play?:
Mostly in the evenings during workdays and whenever the mood strikes me in the weekends.
I'm on CET, so that might conflict a little with the US presences.
Also, due to a rather active job-life, I can't promise day-to-day attendance
but will do my utmost to 'not be a stranger' once i'm taken in in a group.
What day would be best to play your House of Thorns Character?:
Sadly, impossible to say...
Cake or Pie?:
Cake, because it's cake. 'nuff said !
As a finishing note, The background and personality of the character is quite fleshed out already, but needs to be comitted to paper - or merely told to one of the officers - to clarify one or two details. I'll get to the writing part asap, if that is required.
The intention however, would be for my character to be simply drawn to the ambience of the club and taking it IC'ly from there. So, no prior knowledge and no prior intent what so ever.
There... the best I coumd manage at 5.30 at night *smiles*
Hope to hear from you soon !
Oh... and I read the whole frequent questions thread and such. *nods*
Safe: Attempts should be made to identify and prevent risks to health.
Sane: Activities should be undertaken in a sane and sensible cast of mind.
Consensual: All activities should involve the full consent of all parties involved.

Re: Application : Satyxes
As promised, a brief piece of background information.
Most of it is - clearly - OOC, but gives a better feel of the character and it's motivations and mindset.
**************************
A trembling mind plucked fresh from the seething beyond, bound into a body that had been shaped and molded for a single, well-defined purpose. These thoughts where well beyond it's capacities to form at that time, being but an ephemera of true thought, a small en weak thing to animate a construct of infernal flesh and demonic bone.
So, it was silent and obedient. It was content.
Time passed as time does, unnoticed but for those that count the rising suns or the click-clock sounds of their human inventions. The small mind knew nothing but the harsh commands of it's master, felt nothing but the stinging lash of it's displeasure and did nothing but execute the will of it's creator. It excelled at what it's master asked, it moved with fiendish alacrity to please the cold, emotionless eyes that judged.
It had no knowledge of other ways, of other worlds and thus, it was at peace knowing it lived as it was intended to.
From one moment to the next, eveything changed for it. From the monotony of endless training and combat with the master's lesser things, suddenly there was purpose. A word spoken and an image formed for the small mind to see. The image of a man - living, breathing – unaware of the fate that was reserved for him as the word that was uttered sealed his fate : “Kill”.
The master opened a doorway, a rift between places to where it needed to be. Now, it knew purpose. It moved swiftly, with the practiced moves of a thing created for this purpose alone.
Satyxes sat atop one of the metal-and-concrete towers that these humans seemed to prefer. It realised it had never identified itself as this 'satyxes' before. It was a sound tha master made when the lash came or when the next command was uttered. But never before arriving here, in this strange place, did it associate the sound with itself.
The image burned strong in it's mind, urging it to seek out, to find, to kill. With a casual thought, it wanted to be elsewhere and this world obliged, moving the blue-skinned body to another buildingtop, allowing it to gaze down and search. Like so much dust they all moved, like so much small things. This would take long.
Again, time passed. Crawling from shadow to shadow, willing itself to move from gutter to buildingtop and back again, it searched and it watched. It wondered at these strange things, these humans. So unfocused, so confused in what they did and wanted. It listened to their words but could not unlock their meaning beyond the obvious. It watched and saw the touches, the motions... but again their meaning was lost on the still-forming mind. These things, it was never taught.
It knew there was more to know and learn, but also that it did not matter in the mission it was given.
Satyxes ignored it and willed itself elsewhere. The shadows obeyed.
Rain poured down from the thundering, threatening heavens. Angry red flashes had attracted it's attention, leading it here. Below, Strange-skinned humans (no, clothed, it reminded itself as it touched it's own naked form) stood by as a lifeless body was covered up in a sheet of white. Thick red-brown quickly dirtied the virgin white. The image in it's mind was clear... under the sheet lay it's target. Dead already.
The strange-clothed humans talked about how a snake could have done this or something silver. Perhaps men of colour or ... others still. It didn't understand.
Satyxes sat atop the tallest mountain of glass and steel it could find, shrouded in the shadows and feeling lost. The image was dead. But nothing else came. No call of the master, no harsh command, no stinging lash to spur it on. Nothing.
For the first time in it's memory, it felt lost. The winds atop the tall monument of human ingenuity pulled at it, making the jacket it had aquired to cover it's form flap wildly in the currents. It had no idea why it had taken the jacket... or why it's touch felt somehow good. But it was.... it's own. Could that be it, perhaps ?
Silently, the demon overlooked the sprawl beneath it, passive and silent.
'Help me !'
The ears of the demon perked. It felt no urge to obey... not as it did with it's master.
Sound echoed off the wals of the broken-down buidling it had used to hide today, sheltering from the fierce light of that fiery wound in the sky.
Slowly it faced the sound to see a small human, shock etched on the tear-streaked face as the human eues beheld the demon slowly rising. Behind the small human, others appeared – coloured men, like the coloured men that had stolen it's purpose (if the strange clothed humans where to be believed...). In a second, Satyxes found that it was all to easy to believe, all too easy to turn it's sense of abandonnement into a rage as these coloured men came closer.
'Help me ! Please !'
Satyxes heard the command... It didn't care why or what. It responded.
The demon had followed it's little master. It didn't understand. What was commanded had happened, yet... yet the little master had screamed and yelled. The coloured men couldn't hurt anymore, never again - but still the little master had screamed.
It had remembered the white-and-red metal thing that had taken the body of it's target away. Those humans could help the little master, surely. Willing itself to move with the master's huddled, cramped up body, the demon lifted herself off the ground – carying it to the place where these metal things rode to. As it handed the little master to the humans that ran out when it landed, it listened. They spoke of shock. Of trauma.
The little master seemed affected by it's actions. Not the coloured men frightened the human-child, but the leaping blades, the blood-rain and the death-songs.
Shadows came. It wanted to be elsewhere.
Atop it's mountain of glass and steel, it saw the ships coming...
It heard the screams from below. It smelled the smoke and tasted death in the air. But how could it act without sendin yet another 'little master' to the red-and-white place ?
As destruction started around, it sat and watched. Passive, content to know it was not meant to be here, so it's absence wouldn't matter. It closed it's eyes and listened.
“Hey ! You, there ! They're coming from the HQ and moving into the residential area's. We're stronger together, so how about you come with me when you've regained your strength ?”
Satyxes opened it's eyes... looking at one of this city's strange-dressed humans, one that had seen her past the shadows and... was asking. Not commanding.
It would have to choose, would have to...
“Come on ! Perople need us !”
Satyxes heard the command... and followed.
The creatures had gone, as had it's new master. The man in clothes of gold and red and fire had waved at 'her' and smiled. He said it had been a pleasure to fight alongside 'her' and... flown away.
It's skin had been felt, it's eyes had been seen, it's breath had been tasted.
No more could the shadows hide it. Now, with no place to go and no master to command it.
Pulling it's jacket closer against it's skin, Satyxes started to walk.
There was bound to be a place to call this 'home' that humans spoke of.

Hi there, Satyxes. Thanks for the application.
Just so you know, though we do not shy away from mature topics, we are not anti-heroes and generally not dark heroes. This does not disqualify you, but I just wanted to let you know that this is not a central theme to us.
Feel free to look us up in-game for RP.

Re: Application : Satyxes
Glad you bring it up.
To clarify : No, it's not the intention to play a dark hero.
The character will have evolved a few months farther (end of the invasion to now), so will have poicked up on the 'hero vibe'. The thought behind it all is actually a bloom from where Saty's mind is now towards an even more humane and full existance.
The simple truth of it though, is that Saty will be as good/evil as the character it identifies with as 'command giver' in it's mind. As the character picks up on IC morality from watching and imitating, it's my intention to let 'it' learn from that.
It'll mostly be a very subtle, personal evolution - noticeable by those close enough to Saty.
Hope that clears it up a little ?

Re: Application : Satyxes
It sounds like you're saying she will adapt to the personalities in the house, or at least the house leadership. As such, the more time she spends with good people, the better she will become as the result of cumulative order programming.

Re: Application : Satyxes
Hrm...
In a way, yes.
Look at it as your classical 'wild child' story. There's fully formed, mature survival reflexes and realisation that punching people in the face hurts and is most likely unpleasant for them, but no societal norms have yet been imprinted.
So it's basically 'learning by watching', and so gradually filling out it's personality as a whole, not so much 'being brainwashed by the next shiney thing that comes along' (as that would lack all RP challenge).
Most likely, it'll be the first character that makes a lasting impression on Saty that will be the major guide of it's evolution.

Re: Application : Satyxes
I'm not sure how relevant it is, but I can't help but wondering if Satyxes looks like a Ken/Barbie doll from waist down, with the vague discription about gender in the application, or if Satyxes happens to be a shape shifter/gender bender? Mai would like to address someone as he or she, rather than "it", even if it's a demon or AI.

Re: Application : Satyxes
No, I can perfectly imagine.
You've no idea how tricky it is to write consistently gender-less *smiles*
Seeing as how i've used a female model for her (the male tryouts just failed to please me), i think it's perfectly acceptable if Satyxes is referred to as a 'Her' - A 'mistake' that wouldn't be uncommon, as i've tried to hint at in the background piece i've written.
As for the question if the character is a 'barbie doll lookalike' around the pink bits area :
Yes, that would indeed be the intention - unless that is too spooky for people.

Re: Application : Satyxes
Thanks, Doctor silver.
But rest assured that my personal preferences and those of the characters I play are sufficiently separated in my mind as to not cause any personal offence if people would prefer a different approach to things. Hence, my remark.
