Sorune Yohlm's Application Empty Sorune Yohlm's Application

Post  DWSage007 Sat Apr 24, 2010 3:23 pm

By filling in this application you declare your Out Of Character and In Character age is above 18+. Anyone found to be violating this primary rule will be removed from the guild without question. I also accept the Super Group contains themes of an adult nature and will abide by SSC Rulings listed below;

Safe: Attempts should be made to identify and prevent risks to health.
Sane: Activities should be undertaken in a sane and sensible cast of mind.
Consensual: All activities should involve the full consent of all parties involved.

Your Characters Name:
Sorune Yohlm @ Sorune

Your Characters Gender:
Male

Your Characters Age:
75

Your (As in Player's) Date of Birth:
December 13, 1987

Your Characters Species:
Elf (Extraterrestrial Life Form. But he looks like an Elf, so he gets called an Elf.)

Your Personal Roleplay Experience:
Playing tabletop D&D since I was 7, with quite a few other games shoved in there longways. Also played on RPGWW, an online forum and chat-based RP community for quite a few years.

----

Where did you hear about House of Thorns?:
From the CORP message boards.

What appeals to you the most about the Guild?:
It's a facet humanity that Sorune doesn't often interact with-he's gone alongside heroes and antiheroes, villains and supers...but not the baser side of things. It'll be interesting to see how he'll react, and I'm sure he'll enjoy the ride as much as I will.

In what way do you see yourself contribute to the Group?
Dry humor, mild observations, and a rarely-seen mindset that likes to put things at a ninety-degree curve to normality. For the most part, I offer experience and intelligence, with just a touch of unexpected humor.

What's your characters traits; Their flaws, their strengths?
Sorune is intelligent, crafty, and a bit cynical. He doesn't let it get in the way of him liking people though, and he often goes out of his way when he really, really shouldn't. However, Sorune has a tendency to get wrapped up in his projects, and thus get focused...focused to the point where he wouldn't hear someone in power armor sneak up behind him. As far as weaknesses go...he's really just a man with a funny suit. If he was caught off-guard, he could be taken down by Johnny Brawler in the bar. However, given time to plan, Sorune can make himself an impenetrable fortress in short order-he's good at tactics and planning, but poor at recovery when someone else has made the first strike. He's much more used to acting proactively. So far as his actual powers go, Sorune is a Druid. A master of using both Earth and Wind, making plants grow, and various lively powers. He's also not a bad alchemist, dabbling in it as often as he can, and is generally the source of grandfatherly-type advice.

What position do you see your Character in the House of Thorns?
He could fill a few roles. It's just as easy for me to see Sorune being a bookkeeper or accountant as it is to see him being a mere observer to the house. However, the most likely roles he would fill is that of a gardener-and he'd take great joy with that job, trust me-or as a healer, both magical and alchemical. Even if he wasn't officially given those roles, he'd probably take them on anyway, just because. That's not to say that Sorune -wouldn't- fill another role if he had to...just that he'd be more likely to take something quiet.

----

What times do you play?:
Around 3 to 9 AM Eastern time. But only for the next two months, and this can be adjusted if there's a regular group going. However, being in the Military, I might not always have the opportunity to adjust this as I'd like!

What day would be best to play your House of Thorns Character?:
Fridays and Saturdays, at least for the next two months. After that, it'll be up in the air again.

Cake or Pie?:
I'm partial to donuts, myself.

Thanks for taking time to fill this in!

Sorune Yohlm's Application Empty Re: Sorune Yohlm's Application

Greetings, Welcome to our little corner of the net. Smile

A couple questions I had, the first not too serious. I'm curious about the inspiration for the character. I notice you're a Space Elf, would that be of the Eldar vartiety (I notice you mention getting snuck up on by Power Armor) or of the 'Fantasy World on another planet and I accidentally ended up here' variety?

On a more serious note, from what I see in the app, the character has no previous interest/experience in fetishism or BDSM, correct? Would he have been to the Fetish Fuel (the fetish club affiliated with the House)? If not, where IC did he learn of us? What sparked his interest in actually joining the House, and not just meeting/interacting with us?

Sorune Yohlm's Application Empty Re: Sorune Yohlm's Application

Post  DWSage007 Sun Apr 25, 2010 7:53 am

Good questions indeed. No, Sorune is not of the Eldar variety-he was actually one of my very first characters for D&D, and when I wanted to play at RPGWW, I had to think of a way to transfer him in...preferably without him knowing a lot about the history or lore of the city he would spend his time at.

The first option was to simply make him a hermit. That was too unoriginal, even for my eleven-year-old mind. The second idea? That Sorune had been summoned by an accident orchestrated by a Goddess of Decay, and ripped away from his home world in an instant. There's more to go with it, but that's the main gist of it-he's an accidental summon. And since his focus is on Druidry, he's having to re-learn how to tap into the lifestuff of the planet.

So far as how Sorune got into the club itself...oh, the ways he could sneak in.

I could see him quite easily going to the Second Lounge (IE, where they're more romantic and less overtly sexual) to get a drink or three, and finding that the place is more...welcoming than he'd expect. Curiousity alone would have him coming again and again, simply observing people, perhaps even applying to be a bartender or being an unofficial bouncer. And from there, it's only a matter of time until he finds out about the secret entrance, and the real face of the club.

He would be looking for work regardless, seeing as how he's most definitely not from around here, and needing to stay in the city instead of living in the park like a hobo or going off and being a naturalist. He -would- see if he could get a job as a gardener first, an alchemist second, and untrained labor last. One or two blasts of Druid magic would get some eyebrows raised, and from there, a toe in the door to the SG.

An RP event could have Sorune simply being summoned inside the bar itself, rather bewildered, confused, and speaking an odd dialect. A few explanations later, and Sorune offers to trade his magical abilities for room and board, nothing more.

Tracking down a supervillain, he manages to get a tip from a member of the house...and though they're discreet, they don't really count on him being able to talk to animals. After all, who would notice a single fly buzzing in after them, and being able to recount the tale to Sorune?

Or perhaps the most amusing of all...he gets an offer to join the House of Thorns from another source, perhaps helping a member out with a case, and knows absolutely nothing about Fetish Fuel. Imagine his responses when someone finally takes him there to learn a little bit -more- about these folks.

Personally I see this as most likely. Just be aware the club is openly a Fetish Club, even the second lounge. You would have to get by the the bouncer at the door, so you'd have to look like you belong in a fetish club. Amusingly, whatever leather shirt and breaches you were wearing from your old lands might 'accidentally' qualify. Laughing

Also the club is comepletely legal, the door to the downstairs isn't actually secret, just out of the way so that it's clear that if you are there, you are there with plenty of warning that what you see may shock/offend some. (and so that the loud music from upstairs doesn't interfere with the shows/demonstrations) Also, even in the 'back room' there no actual sex on display here. And yes, as a quiet, behaving regular, the second set of bouncers wouldn't stop you if you decided to visit the downstairs. Twisted Evil

Usually, House members aren't employed by the club (exception, several House members are club management), or even the House (the only exceptions being Miss Lilith's personal secretary and her chambermaid, and the latter isn't a paid position). While the House does employ a gardening staff, they are not House members, just mansion staff. The House is well-known as a Supergroup. The members are Heroes first and foremost, just with a shared kinship of kinky hobbies. The staff maintains the mansion for the member's convenience as a place to relax and meet away from the stresses of saving the world. Of course, if you want to garden (or cook, or clean) in your down time, feel free. Aquaman may clean the JLA's pool, but he's not getting paid to do it, he does it because he wants to.

Sorune Yohlm's Application Empty Re: Sorune Yohlm's Application

Heya Sorune, very well written app.

Angelica put it pretty nicely. Fetish Fuel is a great way to get your foot in the door, alot of characters use this means which is only logical.

  • You hang out at FF because your curious.
  • You hang out there because your into the scene.
  • You could go there looking for a Dominant or a submissive.

Theres alot of other ways, but i'd say they were the top ones. The thing with this is, your character has to initially be interested in it, even the off rooms of the Club aren't vanilla in any way, expect the stench of rubber, ridiculous heels, flesh on show and men in corsets. Our group is based -heavily- in the Fetish Underground world, "Heroes with Kinks" could pretty much be our slogan. By far the best way for you to have a good anchor and a great RP Hook would be to start a Forum Roleplay here on our boards. Characters will get involved, you'll meet them, you'll get an idea whether your character feels like a square peg in a circular hole, or like a lubed up perfect fit. Very Happy

Sorune Yohlm's Application Empty Re: Sorune Yohlm's Application

Post  Lilith Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:40 pm

Thank you Angelica and Lexi. Some good points have been put across here.

Fetish Fuel is definitely a fetish club. One would determine this from the name and probably viewing those standing in line, much less once inside. Let us just say that the degrees of intensity increase the 'deeper' one is allowed inside. As mentioned, though, the law is abided within.

We actually have some characters that RP working at the Club or the House. It is not the normal way to get with us, though. As Lexi mentioned, we are Heroes with Kinks. We do not dictate what a character should do with his or her free time, but prudes (and even people stuck on vanilla) will likely not fit.

If you do wish to RP working at the club, you will, of course, need to get the green light from us. But please work this out, because we generally handle an application here as an IC petition to join the House (not just to work at the Club). If you wish time to develop your exposure to us before ICly applying to join the House, that is fine. Just let us know.
